Sponsor my open source hours on WordPress

Every WordPress release since 2023 has my work in it: testing, Core patches and helping new contributors. Your support turns more of my time into steady hours for WordPress, and credits your company on WordPress.org.

01why.md

Why sponsor me

I’ll keep showing up for WordPress either way. Your sponsorship decides how many more hours I can give.

  • Steady

    A contributor in every release

Credited in every WordPress release since 2023, through testing, patches and reviews. Your hours go to someone who shows up each cycle, not a one-off contributor.

  • Testing

Your hours reach the whole release

I test patches and releases, guide new testers and keep the Test Handbook clear. As Test Team Rep, that reaches the whole team, as it did when I was Test Co-Lead for WordPress 7.1.

  • Mentoring

    One sponsor, many new contributors

I help new contributors and university students make their first contribution, so your hours bring more people into WordPress. Four Contributor Day tables led and two talks so far.

  • Open

    You see every hour

A short monthly update linking the real Trac tickets and pull requests, so you can check every hour, plus public credit for your company on Five for the Future.

Questions

The work

What does a sponsored hour go to?

WordPress itself: mentoring, Core patches and reviews, testing and triage. It isn’t work on your own product. For that, see project work.

Can I choose what you work on?

You can suggest a focus, like a Core component, a release or the Test Team. The work goes through the project’s normal review, so I can’t promise a specific patch will be committed.

How do I see what my hours did?

Monthly sponsors get a short email each month, and hour packs get one when the hours are done. Every item links to the real Trac ticket, pull request or post, so you can check it yourself.

Do you also take paid project work?

Yes, separately from sponsorship. If you need something built, fixed or tested for your own site or product, see project work or tell me about it.

Credit

How does my company show as a sponsor on WordPress.org?

Your company creates a free pledge on Five for the Future and adds me as a contributor. Once I confirm it, my card on the Core pledges page shows “Sponsored” with a link to your company, and the pledge appears on my WordPress.org profile.

Does my company need to build on WordPress?

No. Any company that wants to support WordPress can sponsor. Hosts, agencies, and plugin and theme companies are a natural fit.

Can I sponsor as an individual?

Yes. Pick any monthly plan or a one-time pack, or send any amount. Individuals are listed with their name, and monthly sponsors can show their GitHub photo.

Plans and payment

How do I pay?

Through Wise or bank transfer, monthly or once. If your company needs an invoice or another way to pay, tell me when you get in touch.

Can I sponsor just once?

Yes. Pick an hour pack, or send any amount through Wise. You’re listed by name as a one-time supporter. Five for the Future credit is for monthly sponsors, since it lists ongoing hours each week.

Can I change plan or stop?

Yes. Let me know before the next month starts and I’ll update the hours and the credits.

Can I sponsor something other than these plans?

Yes. The plans are a starting point. Get in touch with the hours you have in mind.
